Elder Everett Abernathy of Oden peacefully went to the Lord October 14, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 25, 1922 in Paris, TX. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, LaurineAbernathy, 5 children, Becky Rounsavall, Kathy Youngblood and Ken; Phillip Abernathy, Dianne Ryan and Bill and Suzanne Felkins and Charlie; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Bill Abernathy and Ted Abernathy and 1 sister, Eva Jean Miller.
He served his country proudly as a World War 2 Veteran. He will be remembered as a faithful servant of God and was an Elder in the Primitive Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Arkansas Hospice for their support in his final days.
Open visitation will be held 8 am-8 pm Tuesday, October 15 at Thornton Funeral Home in Mt. Ida, AR. Service will be held Wednesday, October 16 at 2 pm at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Olive Community.
